Struck by Lightning

And at the completion of the Lightning Lace Jacket, I feel a little fried.



But in a good way. I wore it to my LYS* Friday afternoon to much cheering and a couple of "Oh, it was so worth it." It being the weeks of my calling this project the Lace from Hell. But, yes, the over-my-head instructions and the counting and recounting and triple counting of stitches--think hanging chads--were all worth it. They'll have to be. I'm not making another one.

I feel compelled to apologize for the boring finished project photo. I'm no Jared Flood, and I know that garments show better in 3D, on a body, in natural light. My body is not photogenic, however. I laugh even to imagine. Oak flooring under pot lights is my best option.

Here's a close up of the knit side. I ended up wearing the purl side out since I like it better.



I have more comments about my experience with this pattern on Ravelry. I have to say that this is the first sweater I made that fits like it was meant to. The major lessons I learned were SSP (slip slip purl) and the general process of knitting a sweater in the round without the need for a seam anywhere. There is a three-needle bind off along the shoulders that finishes it.
